Organized by Kanaan Kanaan

Piece Process is a national traveling exhibition of painting, photography, sculpture and film created by artists of Middle Eastern decent, working in America, Europe and the Middle East.

This group of Israeli and Palestinian, Jewish and Arab, men and women, are committed to exhibiting together to explore the Middle Eastern conflict and the possibility of peace. Their artworks address the Israel/Palestine conflict and the difficult dialogue between Jews and Arabs. Through Piece Process motivated Muslims, Jews and Christians take note of each other and build bridges simply by working and exhibiting together.

The choice of the word Piece emerged from the recognition that no art exhibit can enforce pragmatic solutions upon the fragile “peace process.” The hope is to demonstrate that an environment of dialogue, tolerance, integrity, dignity, and attentiveness can exist. Together, they create an exhibition, which offers a multiplicity of voices and shared possibilities that rise above hate and ignorance.

Piece Process also underlines the internal emotional process that links and pieces the artists together as a group, where the created dynamic strengthens the artistic expression to become effective and coherent. It is in the essence of any creative process concerning the human condition to communicate the personal narratives that are tied and tethered to a specific culture and region. These artists work with their personal narratives to explore a broader conceptualization of humans in situations of conflict and towards a deeper understanding of coexistence.
