Bryan
Eubanks, soprano saxophone
John Krausbauer, accordion
The performance is an improvisation within a pre-determined sine-wave
structure using limited and notated tones from acoustic instruments. The
piece is approximately 56 minutes in duration, was composed specifically
for this performance and has no title. The piece has little to do with
the installation in terms of content, however fundamental ideas are complimentary.

60 minute electronic loops for 4 channel sound
Opening Reception
First Thursday, April 5, 6-10pm
Interiors are part of a body of process work that has
taken on great importance in Eubank's musical practice. The result lives
comfortably between sound art and music, and contains 2 or more channels
of closely related material.
This process attempts to achieve a particular response from the material
and the listener by creating a rich sonic field that can allow extended
periods of total physical and psychic immersion. Simple means are employed
to do this: feedback, samples, and the juxtaposition of the slowly changing
original source with these static simulations. However their aggregate
effect is one of room filling complexity that can lead to the synthesis
of the objective sound and the cognitive process. This periodic union
between listener and objective sonic material is what this work is concerned
with. The unique way each will hear, interact with, and stratify the overall
texture into discrete elements leads to an individual symbiotic relationship
to the sound. The listener is encouraged to participate in multiple realizations
of this process by returning and spending long periods of time inside
of each piece.
This installation is composed of three pieces, each of which will
contain a 60-minute, 4 channel loop that will play continuously during
the open hours of the gallery.
