![]() March 1 - 30 Main Gallery Survey (at the edge of the continent) |David Lindsay frieze painting sculpture Opening Reception First Thursday, March 1, 6-10pm Survey (at the edge of the continent) is a self-contained frieze of painting that comes up from the ground in a spiral, 14 feet in diameter. The figures and space of the painting create a thin veil of illusion between the viewer and the emptiness that fills the work. My work comes out of a fluid intersection between my upbringing in the San Francisco Bay Area, and a critical period spent in Italy, being exposed to art’s decorum. The work stems from the traditions of figurative painting, minimalist forms, church naves, public buildings, and a severe interest in how space can be used as a metaphor for broad community and individual psychology. - David Lindsay |
