Hatching an Art Center Grand Opening and Chicken-inspired Benefit (opening) A whimsical kick off for the new non profit art space Portland Art Center. A space that will provide exciting and dynamic services to the community including: professional gallery space for installation art and guest curators, and resources for artists and the public to discover who, what, where and how to get connected to contemporary art in our community.	Chicken Scratches Four pet chickens, Plumpy, Skinny, Lazy, and Baby, were in attendance, happily modeling in their designed-for-gallery coop. Tables were set up and supplies were made available as artists sketched the chickens	Each drawing, or chicken scratch, was displayed on the gallery walls and was available for purchase for $40 (purchase included: the signed drawing, a membership to Portland Art Center, and free admission to Huevos Diablos at Bossanova) with all proceeds going to The Center. All were welcome to make a chicken scratch. Chicken Scratches were on display throughout length of the show.
